wow, Rick and Levon would be worth the price alone to this. Too bad they don't have the Kingswood any longer. alas- i was too young as well to attend this show, but a nice summer show to listen to anyways.

This was the first Dead show I went to, and I was a complete Grateful Dead neophyte. I confess to being a bit mystified--I was expecting psychedelia and got bluesy rock and roll with endless rambling solos. But the vibe was enchanting and ultimately so was the music. The best things about this concert: the size of the venue, maybe 12,000 people; the grassy amphitheatre set-up; the wacky dancing along the edges; the totally cool people; and the SEVA fundrasier shirt, best quality and coolest concert shirt I ever got.

I live 10 minutes north of Wonderland, where Kingswood Music Theatre once resided. I drive by it daily on my commute to work and always think what a blast it would have been to have seen the Dead in my own backyard. Alas, I was still 7 yrs away from being born.

The quality of this audience tape is spectacular. I very rarely listen to a straight aud tape (prefer SBD or matrix), however, this recording is incredibly rich and makes you feel like you're in the crowd. Thanks to the tapers!

The SBDs and FM feeds are noisy. This is better, but where is the first gen of this special show for us freaks?

whatever, same q for many shows like 10/12/84 or the playin china doll high time from 4/27/84 which is being hoarded based on economic class. In fact that playin doll high time didn't even make it onto their $800 thumbstick. It'd cost me $800 to get their SBD of 10/12/84. I need it, cause, it was one of my first few shows, when we were young, that rocked us to the core. in high school, Augusta, Maine, best show for a long time if your an Eastie 16 year old head. Some shows need to be free and the best recording free due to how the show changed so many lives. I don't expect that often, but at 10/12/84 they not only rocked, but I was over the top. We still visit the augusta Maine civic center as if its a shrine whenever we go to Maine. And it is still functioning If u were there u know. 4 stars for the taper, 1 star for the bands in atttention to the archive's gaps.

To the one who recorded this originally you found the sweat spot for sure. Imagine what the people of Canada must of been think when they saw us at this show. Band starts and so do we moving grooving slipping sliding and down rite boogying .
Great fun on this night and those who prefer aud's grab it.
Gets 5 stars because the sound and set list.

Just have to give Wavy props for a killer intro to a HOT summer solstice show.

I think this show gets 5 stars for the Dead playing New Orleans and Big Boss Man.
Check out 11/8/70 which has a killer string of rare covers, including New Orleans, Searchin and the then rare Baby Blue.

I have major hearing problems. It’s called tinnitus and for those of you who don’t know it is a constant ringing in your ears. Therefore, it is hard for me to find audience shows that are of good enough quality for me to listen to without doing further damage to my hearing by having to turn up the volume past 5 to even tell what song is being played!! I am not saying anything about these shows except that as a person with major hearing lose, these are some of the shows that I have on my I-Pod. Of course some are better than others. However, I am not giving any of these shows a review. I can always find something good in every show…...as long as I can hear it!!!! Here is my list for today, 9/20/08:
